History
- In 1966 a group of Winnipeg Postal Employees formed the Manitoba Postal Curling Association. The group included Don Mowat, Bill Polonuk, John Gifford, Gord Walker and Marsh Hendricks.
- Postal Curling began in Winnipeg, Manitoba in 1967. At the time it was known as The Canadian Postal Curling Championship. Ten teams were involved: Edmonton, Calgary, Moose Jaw, Regina, Saskatoon, Brandon, Winnipeg, North Bay, Port Arthur and Fort William.
- In 1968 Calgary was host city and British Columbia became involved.
- In 1969 Saskatoon was host and Ontario was added.
- In 1970 Ottawa was host city with entries from Quebec, Nova Scotia, and the New Brunswick-P.E.I. Postal District entered for the first time.
- In 1971 North Bay was host city.
- In 1972 Vancouver was host city. This marked the first time that New Brunswick and P.E.I. had separate entries.
- In 1973 Halifax-Dartmouth was the host. A team from "the rock" (Newfoundland), came to compete for the first time.
- In 1974 Edmonton, Alberta was host.
- In 1975 Quebec City, Quebec was host.
- In 1976 Winnipeg was host of the 10th anniversary of the Classic.
- In 1977 Toronto was host city. The Territories participated for the first time making the Classic a true National event!
- In 1978 Calgary was host city. This also marked the first time at the Classic for a female curler.
- 1979 St. John New Brunswick was host.
- 1980 Regina, Sask. was host
- 1981 Victoria, B.C. was host
- 1982 Charlottetown, P.E.I. was host.
- 1983 Thunder Bay, Ont. was host.
- 1984 Edmonton, Alberta was host.
- 1985 Ottawa, Ont. was host.
- In 1986 Winnipeg was the host of the 20th Anniversary of the Classic.
- 1987 Halifax, N.S. was host.
- In 1988 Whitehorse was host of the Classic.
- 1989 Summerside P.E.I. was host.
- 1990 Vernon B.C. was host.
- In 1991 St. John's Newfoundland was host city. The Classic had now been held in all ten Provinces and the Territories making it truly a National event.
- 1992 Saskatoon, Saskatchewan was host.
- 1993 Trois-Rivieres, Quebec was host.
- 1994 Sault Ste. Marie, Ont. was host.
- In 1995 Edmonton, Alberta was host. This was the 5th time that Alberta had hosted the Classic.
- In 1996 Winnipeg, Manitoba hosted the 30th anniversary of the Classic.
- 1997 Ottawa, Ont. was host.
- 1998 Vernon, B.C. was host.
- 1999 Fredricton, N.B. was host.
- 2000 Regina, Sask. was host.
- 2001 Halifax, N.S. was host
- 2002 Camrose, Alberta was host.
- 2003 Summerside P.E.I. was host. This was the first year for on-line updates and scores via the internet!
- 2004 Thunder Bay, Ont was host. A new web-site was created for the Canadian Postal Employees Curling Classic.
- 2005 St. John's Newfoundland was host.
- 2006 Lethbridge, Alberta was host of the 40th Anniversary of the Classic.
- 2007 Trois-Rivieres, QC. was host for the second time.
- 2008 Winnipeg MB. hosts the Classic for the 5th time!
- 2009 Brampton ON. was host.
- 2010 Regina hosts the Classic for the third time.
